The Winkle

Had a lovely experience at The Winkle a few weeks ago. We were lucky enough to get a table upstairs by the huge window overlooking the seafront which made for a stunning view. The standout dishes were from the specials menu - the giant prawns, lobster, and brill were all exceptional. Knowing everything was freshly caught by a local fisherman made it even better. Food was really well done and the service was exceptional. Charlie waited on us and was informative, attentive and a great conversationalist to boot! The star off for atmosphere is because the patio is unfortunately close to a seaside karaoke establishment and you’re forced to listen to people slaughtering 90s pop during dinner. Not Winkles fault! I’d go back for sure!

Catch of the day was delicious. Crab linguine was light fresh with a light spicyness. Tiger prawns very sweet and the crab croquettes were great, the sauce it came with was especially nice. Staff was also lovely and friendly. Sat out front under an umbrella with a view of the beach. Edit: had an issue with the bill that we only realised the next day and the owner Owen was very quick to verify and resolve the issue, which is deeply appreciated. Couldn’t recommend them more.
